Stop Motion Animation

  1. This was a well done video. I like the use of the red and blue hues. They contrasted in a way that the viewers were able to tell the difference between the characters. The brightness used for the two main characters was interesting and the vibrant brightness really set them aside from the dark villain monster truck. I thought it was interesting how the two main characters weren't very saturated but the villain was saturated and dark. Overall I really like the use of colors in this video. I felt there were several levels of contrast and affinity in the video. The two lovebirds contrasted in their colors but there was affinity in the fact that they were both vibrant. And the two vibrant characters contrasted well with the dark monster truck. I felt that viewers were didactically shown the love story through the first portion of the film and then were actively shown what the love between the two characters could do when the monster truck was overtaken. Good video.

  2. I liked the hero villain concept of the disk against the monster truck. The disk being such a simple character against the complexity of the truck was a really cool contrast that set them apart. Not to mention that monster trucks are usually associated with rather aggressive people. Hence it wasn’t really a surprise, although funny, when the disk was repeatedly run over by the truck. Also the disk and truck both showed weight, during each time the disk was run over it bent and showed the tire tracks of where it had been hit from. All though the most elaborate movement in the both videos was when the disk “ate” the truck, it was highly impressive as the disk squished flat only to engulf the truck which as the ball formed couldn’t be seen and it created this feeling that the disk really had just eaten the truck even though it was just a trick of the camera. One video went even further and had a wheel pop out of the backside of the disk, after it turned into a ball that was a comedic movement but was highly impressive. The movements of the two characters where highly contrasted as the disk merely wiggled a bit during dialogue while the truck simple went from one side to the other as it ran over the disk. This changes when the disk gets the most complex movements when it flattens then manages to actually eat the truck. Over all the villain and hero’s differences really helped set them apart.
