MDIA 203 song

  1. I like this piece. It has a very electronic/dance feel to it. I like how you incorporate the use of turntables. It was a really cool addition to the work. I like the use of low pitches throughout. I guess it sort of mellows me out. I also feel like the slow/moderate tempo adds to my feeling. To me, the piece has a very rhythmic/regular rhythm that allows listeners to grasp the beat and groove to it easily. My opinion is that your piece has a simple/calm timbre that makes it so that the piece isn't overwhelming to listen to. I like it. Nice work.

  2. Bryn, I really found your song to be interesting, while being limited to an “techno” genre you still managed to create something rather cool. I enjoyed who your song would go from stages of organization to rather chaotic stages while still maintaining a steady rhythm throughout the song. The uses of pitch was also so rather entertaining as you would have a really low base that would rapidly give way to you higher pitched melodies. Also you mixture of hard and soft loops created a cool blend, which is even more impressive as your hard tones didn’t override the softer ones but rather laid the base for them.

  3. This is a pretty good song. Particularly, i enjoyed how the intensity of the song changes throughout it. At some parts it would began to get softer and softer, then all of a sudden the intensity would get loud which is something that I really enjoy in an electronic style song. It also seems very organized in the way it was formed. For the rhythm, to me, it seemed pretty regular and rhythmic because the beat was pretty much the same throughout the song which makes me enjoy it even more because I could bob my head to it which can’t be said with a lot of techno/electronic songs. Good job.

  4. I really liked the electronic feel to this song. It had a good dance kind of groove to it. It started with a kind of organized recognizable source. It was cool how you had some loud intense parts of your songs then you would switch it up with a softer more calm kind of beat. The addition of the Dj Scratches in there was a cool layer of your instrumentation. It definitely fit the genre of electronic music. I think you did a good job with this song because it has height with all of the high and low pitch noises.

  5. I really enjoy how you keep the RHYTHM consistent in the very beginning with the initial synth which we come back to repeatedly throughout the song. It seems like you experiment with the timbre of that track throughout the song. I thought that playing with the loudness affected the intensity of you piece very well. Using the turntable scractches was a great way to transition between the different synth parts. As I listened, I realized that the consistent rhythm gets thrown out the window because of how you manipulate the track. We're left with a very chaotically organized song.
